Family chaos smallerHere you’ll find photos of kids, stories of family, and occasional other thoughts… not that much different from anybody else’s kids, family, or thoughts, except, of course, that they’re mine.

I am wife to a generous and good-hearted man who handles all the internet-related problems in our house, and mother to a five-year-old girl and a sweet baby boy.

I am pastor to a generous and good-hearted congregation of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ) in North Carolina.

I really like to write, and have actually won some awards for my writing. That was in seventh grade, in my school’s annual “World of Creativity” contest, but still. These days, I serve on the editorial board of Fidelia’s Sisters, which is part of the Young Clergy Women Project. I’m increasingly less young, but they’re letting me stick around for a few more years. I do some occasional writing for The Christian Century, and I wrote a book, Hopes and Fears: Everyday Theology for New Parents and Other Tired, Anxious People, with my friend Bromleigh McCleneghan. You can read more about my writing here.

I miss my family, who are spread out across five states, most of them a plane ride away.

The footbridge in the photo up top is a place I have really come to love. The title of this blog is not a very interesting story. The very talented Lesley-Ann Hix took our family photos.

These are just my thoughts, by the way, and don’t necessarily represent the views of my congregation or my family. So far, I don’t think I’ve offended my husband; I’m sure my kids will have something to say when they get old enough to read.
